Data are individual records of people surveyed at least at two dates. Their health status is recorded at each date (1 healthy, 2 non healthy). Date of death (month of death) is also recorded. A multinomial logistic model defines the probability to be observed in state j at date t+stepm if observed in state j at date t (similar for death with the probability of dying during the last month). Date 2 minus date 1 is divided into stepm units. Contribution to the likelihood of an individual observed in state i at date 1 and in state j at date 2 is computed by product of elementary matrices.
