——�ïIMaCh (Interpolated Markov Chain Model) is a software which estimates the parameters of an interpolated markov chain model by Maximum likelihood. Data are individual records of people surveyed at least at two dates. Their health status is recorded at each date (1 healthy, 2 non healthy). Date of death (month of death) is also recorded. A multinomial logistic model defines the probability to be observed in state j at date t+stepm if observed in state j at date t (similar for death with the probability of dying during the last month). Date 2 minus date 1 is divided into stepm units. Contribution to the likelihood of an individual observed in state i at date 1 and in state j at date 2 is computed by product of elementary matrices.

The program is more general because it allows the inclusion of simple covariates, more alive states than healthy and unhealthy and outputs many tables and graphs (with gnuplot).

The difficulties reside in the computation of millions of matrices in a reasonable time.

The main purpose of this software is to compute Healthy Life Expectancy and Period prevalence of disability.
